Evenings by the fire/ The Joy of Life Without Electricity
It’s a week since our power was cut off during the crazy storms; we were then without electricity for four days. It certainly made it tricky to respond to emails but it also gave us a wonderful chance to pause in our lives and reconnect. We had dinner by candlelight and spent the evenings by the fire, playing games with the teenagers and experiencing the joys of life without electricity.
It felt a really precious time for us all. So there was a mixture of regret and relief when the power came back over the weekend.
This time reminded us of the strength of the elements and also of the beauty of living a simpler life. It really made us look forward to being able to spend time up in the tipis and yurts again, to the open space and being free from distractions. Only just over a month to go before we start putting everything back up – it’s amazing how fast it comes!
