Spring awakening

The day before the equinox, we collected our first egg from our first hen, and as we drove into the forest, the fields were full of tiny lambs (to the delight of our 2-year-old!) The sky was more blue than it’s been for a long time and we were conscious of springtime all around, welcome as always after the long winter months.

As we welcome the wonders of spring with warmer weather, the return of animals and the growth of plants from their winter hibernation, we also undergo an internal transformation. According to Charaka Samhita, a great Ayurvedic sage, 7 days before and after the Spring Equinox is the transition time to slowly make the changes necessary to joyfully welcome in the new season. This junction of the seasons is also the best time to cleanse. Our bodies and minds are a reflection of nature, and often need only the slightest nudge to return to their natural state of vitality and clarity.

Nature teaches us that space contains infinite potential and is the seed of all creation. From the space, quiet and rest of winter, comes the potential for rebirth and new possibilities of spring. What seeds do you wish to plant this spring?
