New tipis for the new season!
Tipi sewing is now in full swing as we’re getting ready for opening up on 26th March! We usually retire each tipi after four years – the last retired tipi ended up going over to Ireland to Steve and Claire. The tipi that went to them is the one they were staying in when he proposed to her. It’s lovely to find a really good home for an old tipi!
I used to sew the blanket stitch on the lacing pin holes at the very end of the tipi making, after the final shape had been cut out. But I’ve recently realised that it’s loads easier to stitch them before sewing the rest of the canvas onto the front strip. Sometimes it takes a long time to see the obvious, but at least it’s good to keep learning… and when the weather’s not so nice it’s great to be able to sew by the fire!
