We’re delighted with the most recent arrivals in the tipis and yurts – our new Clay Pot Coolers (also known as zeers).
Inside each large clay pot there’s a 15 litre bucket and the space between the two is lined with sand which we keep gently watered. As the water evaporates through the clay this draws heat from the inside and keeps everything cool.
We’re finding they maintain a steady coolness for longer than the cool bricks that we have used, with the added bonus of not requiring energy-hungry freezers. Off-grid living has just got even easier!
