Our karma yoga program invites volunteers who bring passion, commitment and a sense of adventure to our retreat for 3-6 month placements. They help out and co-create this incredible space within our seasonal conscious community. In addition to helping support the day-to-day tasks that keep the retreat running, projects include developing our permaculture vegetable garden, labyrinth and meditation gardens, the teahouse and conscious living centre. If they’re adequately qualified, volunteers can also co-develop workshops and offer yoga classes or professional spa treatments to guests.
We offer accommodation in return for 20 hours of karma yoga (volunteering) per week per individual. This leaves plenty of time to explore the area and focus on your own spiritual practice and contemplation. We welcome couples or friends as accommodation is based on two people sharing. Simple accommodation is provided. Karma yogis need to provide their own food. Revenue-share for classes and treatments offered by karma yogis can be discussed.
Applicants should have a passion for sustainable living and follow their own spiritual practice. They should bring relevant skills such as permaculture design, yoga teaching, massage or other natural healing practices, relevant workshop content, natural building, vegetable production, vegetarian cooking and more professional experience and abilities in alignment with our mission and vision. Volunteers must bring a willingness to pitch in with the daily tasks that ensure the retreat can run and improve. An ability to work together with owners and other karma yogis within our seasonal conscious community is a must. Experience traveling and living in challenging conditions such as those found off grid or in developing countries is helpful. A willingness to disconnect from the digital universe is also essential as we have limited phone signal on site and no electricity available for laptops or phones – unless of course you want to bring solar chargers. A good level of fitness is necessary to navigate our large and hilly site. A positive attitude in the face of challenges and a huge spirit of adventure are essential!
